As the American tradition of celebrating Superbowl Sunday nears, many people, even those who are not football fans, will be partying it up with friends. What makes this day such a popular party holiday? My guess - the food, the beer, and the commercials, oh and the football game of course.

There are plenty of different ways to throw a Superbowl party. Each person or group has their own unique spin on what makes up the ideal Superbowl festivities. As a result, I have picked out a few items and ideas, most of them related to food, from various places that would create what I would consider to be “the most awesome Superbowl Party.”

On ToastedRav.com they describe some pretty interesting food options, including the greatest snack stadium ever built. Amazon has some pretty cool party favors and supplies to outfit any respectable SB party. This one, the Football Fan Inflatable Drink Cooler, is a favorite of mine because you can have icy cold beverages anywhere. And for all of you drinking game fans, the Super Bowl Party Plastic Cups, 8ct are a necessity for nearly any game that comes to pass.

Outside of the suggestions above, here are some general guidelines that will help you plan and pull of a great party this Superbowl Sunday.

Leave the gourmet recipes in the books. This Sunday, forget about getting fancy or making formal sit down meals. Focus instead on classics like chili, dips, hot wings, pizza, and chips and snacks of any kind.

Have ample drinks on hand. There is nothing worse than running out of drinks, whether it is soda or beer in the middle of the game. Keep the fridge and coolers stocked, it will inevitably get consumed so don’t go light on the beverage purchases.

Football decorations are ok, but don’t overdo it. It is a nice touch to have matching napkins, plates, and cups all with a football theme, but when you have football lights, pillows, figurines, and other inflatables…my advice - save your money and buy more beer or food.

Don’t be the annoying person at the party or be the one who invited them. You know that person I am talking about, the one who talks over everyone, who knows everything about every player or commercial, the one who thinks everything that everything they say is so entertaining. The person who undoubtedly makes everyone at your party want to go deaf just for a few moments of peace. If you want to have a party people will remember for good reasons, don’t have anyone like this at your party.

Make sure you have big TVs and plenty of room. There is nothing worse than going to a friend’s house for a party where TV is vitally important to the festivities only to find that they have a tiny one room apartment and a 20 inch TV. People like their comfort and no one wants to use a magnifying glass to catch the game.

Follow these tips and I guarantee you will be well set up for a great party. Even if you aren’t a football fan, it is still perfectly acceptable to throw a party and enjoy the commercials. There are always plenty of memorable and funny new ads that role out on Superbowl Sunday. So, if you are planning a party be considerate of the above tips and I am sure your guests will appreciate it.

So today we got wind of a new Beer Bar that is coming ot the St. Louis area, which is where we are based, that will feature a total of 500 beers. It is called the International Tap House and we read the original article here from StlToday.com.

I don’t know about you but 500 beers…that sounds like a challenge to me. Not only are we excited by the vast selection of tasty brew that will be available for our drinking pleasure, but it has drink in or carryout. I mean how awesome is that.

“Will you be drinking here, Sir?”

“No I will have my beer to go, thanks.”

The International Tap House or ITap for short will serve no food, but will allow for in-room delivery from nearby restaurants. It seems to me they have the essentials covered. Beer, place to drink, friends, and food availablility. Did I mention 500 beers? Check out www.stltoday.com for additional updates as they come.

Recently a new iPod accessory was released called the iBreath Breathalyzer that is quickly becoming a must have for even the not-so-frequent partier. The iBreath is like a portable breathalyzer on steroids. Not only can you ensure you are not too drunk to drive in party situations, but it also acts as an FM transmitter. Which means, if you do not already have an iPod to stereo hook up, this little device will allow you to tune to any FM station and transmit music from your iPod to the nearest stereo.

It is the perfect party accessory not just for its ability to spread the music, but because it can save you and your friends from making a huge mistake and driving when you are past the legal limit. As we point out in our 5 Tips for Safe Partying post, a portable breathalyzer is a must have to help you stay within your limit. It can keep you from making a mistake that could effect your career and cost you thousands of dollars in legal fees and countless hours of your time.

It is a brilliant move to tie in a useful and responsible gadget like the iBreath with an iPod. These mp3 players are already party staples and something people tend to carry with them everywhere they go which will help the adoption rate and use of the iBreath. So if you are looking for the perfect gift for the partying gadget lover, think about picking one of these up. I don’t think they will be disappointed.

The first and foremost rule of anyone who enjoys having a good time is often the most forgotten. It is what I like to call reputation management. Don’t get me wrong, I like to have a good time, get crazy and do things I am not proud of just like the next person. However, if you are wreckless, your good times can come back to haunt you in the future.I have found in my short life, that there is an important formula to partying and still maintaining your professional reputation.

Here are a few tips I have learned that I hope are a benefit to you as you evaluate your next social gathering or party.

Know your limits. On countless occasions I have had the unfortunate experience of having one too many or many times just the wrong combination of alcohol. It has resulted in a few bad nights where all of the sudden before I knew it, I was in bad shape. make sure you know how different types of alcohol affect you and in what quantities and combination. There is nothing worse than having a bad reaction to a mixture of alcohol and getting more intoxicated than expected. I recommend carrying around a Portable Breathalyzer. It can be a helpful tool when out and can help you keep a handle on just what level of intoxication you are on.

Pictures - These little digital snapshots could be the death of you in the future. One picture of you in an offensive costume, in a sexually explicit position, or just plain embarrassing pictures can be damaging to your reputation. This is particularly true since nowadays personal information online is as readily available as ever. Be wary of who is taking pictures of you and where they are posting them. If you have Facebook or MySpace accounts, create limited profile views and put anyone in that list that you do not want to have access to pictures of you. You never know what future boss or employer may find online about you, so be cautious. If you just love the camera and cannot seem to get away from the snapshots check out this handy product Fred Black Bars Party Glasses.

Don’t drink and drive. I realize that it may seem like a pretty obvious tip, but take it from me, one DUI or DWI and it can not only be a reputation killer, but a job killer as well. At some places, you can immediately lose your job if you get a DUI. It could also prevent you from getting future jobs who check your record. Not only are fighting these things incredibly expensive and time consuming, but they are one of the biggest hassles you could ever go through. Be smart and get a DD or take a taxi, it is not only safer for you but for everyone else on the road too.

Don’t get hammered at work functions. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen people get completely sloshed when out with coworkers or even their boss. It is even worse when you are out with potential clients and you put back a few too many. It is embarrassing for yourself and your company, so take it easy at work functions, even if the alcohol is paid for.

Be wary of who you are with. In addition to people drinking it up with their bosses, another contributing factor to ruining your reputation is being out with people you don’t know that well and do not trust. It is one thing to be out and let loose with your closest friends, who may tease you and give you a hard time, but at the end of the day they are going to take care of you. It is a completely different situation when you are out with acquaintances or people you have just met. They don’t have any loyalty to you and can make an embarrassing night even worse by telling everyone they know about that “drunk fool” at the party the other night. This especially comes into play when cameras start coming out. You never know who is taking pictures of you and where they are going to post it.

If you keep the above tips in your mind as you go out or have parties and apply as many of them as you can while you are out, you could save yourself a lot of grief in the future. Don’t let one senseless moment or decision ruin the important things in your life. Everyone wants to enjoy themselves, but there are methods to the madness. Have a great time and protect your future at the same time.

Here are the two products that we mention in this article. Check them out.
